Tpt

I have been a critic of TPT (Twin Cities Public Television) for years. Then with the new tv we found TPT Kids. It is great. Keep in mind that I do not let my child watch more than an hour of TV per day (not to say it is on in the background when we are doing other things...) But it was there when you needed to get the little one to rest with a cold or be entertained when an impt. matter had to be delt with. Now refer below. The first good thing TPT has done in decades will be gone....

"Why are we eliminating the tpt KIDS channel?

Our original plan was to convert tpt 2 to all-adult programming and have a separate, full-time channel for educational children’s programming. However, in order to insure that this programming is available to all cable and satellite households, as well as outlying over-the-air households, we determined that it will be necessary to maintain children’s programming on tpt 2.

With children’s programming remaining on tpt 2, the tpt KIDS channel would be redundant programming for nearly 12 hours per day. In addition, we know that the audience for children’s programming drops off dramatically after about 8 p.m. Therefore, we would have been maintaining a full-time kids’ channel that only provided a unique, useful service for about 2 hours a day (between 6 p.m., when children’s programs stop on tpt 2 and 8 p.m. when the audience goes to bed!) We decided it was not a wise use of resources to maintain the 24/7 tpt KIDS channel."

Sad part is I know of so many familes that have non-traditional hours like mine. The elimation of this programing is lousy.
